Poems

I am excited about sharing my poetry. I have written poetry for over ten years and I have published my first poetry book. Here are two of the poems in the poetry book and I will be adding new poems on the website over frequently.

When you read my poems, I put Bible Scripture and Bible Questions about the scripture with each poem. I want people who read my poems to reflect on their life and their belief in God. If you do not believe in God, I hope you enjoy meditating on the scripture and realize its spiritual wealth.

Dad

Dad

What a dad
Very giving
I am glad
Gave us a living

He was incredibly supportive
In our life enterprises
Some found him distortive
Not around for his surprises

He had a sense of humor
But extraordinary dry
He birthed a lot of boomers
But they stayed nearby

Three out of four
Stayed extremely close
Almost next door
Rubbing elbows

We all were tight
Thick as thieves
Not always alright
We all had our peeves

But we were a family unit
My father instilled in us
Wonderfully double knit
A heavily constructed truss

We did fight
We did fuss
We did bicker
We did holler

But we did it to ourselves
No one else was allowed
Not our blood or cells
We never cowed

Fight we could
Why I never knew
Fight we would
Never had a clue

The win was not essential
But for pride and respect
Everything else consequential
Our glorious architect

This is how we were assembled
Thanks to Fred
I do not think it resembled
Our revered Godhead

I know he believed
And I am glad
He was conceived
By my granddad

Both of them Christians
Both of them strong
Both of them courageous
Both of them flawed

Just like everyone
They had their deficiencies
And I am glad that I am their son
Because they had many efficiencies

Makers of family
Makers of wealth
Makers of character
Makers of charity

I am favored
For a family of vitality
Life is savored
Generations of immortality

Bible Scripture About Poem – Meditate and pray on Scripture

Psalm 127:3-5 (NIV) Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court.

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (NIV) Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men[a] 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

1 John 1:8 (NIV) If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

Bible Scripture Questions About Poem

  1. Why do Christians sin?
  2. Why do families stay close and why they can be bad influences on each other?
  3. How can families live more for Christ?
  4. What actions can they produce to be closer to God?

Jackson Friends

Jackson Friends

I do not know
Where they all went
All had our own show
We all were content

We had played golf
We had camped out
We had partied
We had eaten out

We were young
And we were strong
Moving up the rung
Singing our song

Bankers and politicians
Real estate developers
Businessman and physicians
And none a competitor

You think all is good
Until a few die too soon
It is not understood
Really not opportune

Greg Richard and Paul
A third of us died
Meeting Gods call
I wonder if I cried

I know I was shocked
Heart attack cancer and car wreck
Their families were rocked
Just cut the deck

Who dies and who does not
God only knows
PSP MS or a blood clot
Take it on the nose

God is in control
God knows the truth
God has a plan
God is the man

I must trust His ways
I must know it is true
I must give Him praise
I must accept His worldview

My friends will lose
Fifty percent gone
We can choose
Prepared to move on
