Overpopulation
Is it a concern
Or some stupid myth
Are we waiting for a downturn
Reducing the population by a fifth
Thomas Malthus thought so
And Paul Ehrlich too
But their fortune telling a no show
Has it affected you
No it has not
Changed your life
Even while it has got hot
And all the global warming strife
Along with too many people
And new diseases and viruses
I feel we are climbing a steep hill
And no foreseeable miracles
Man thinks he can create a miracle play
By reducing the world population
As they create schemes along the way
New ways to reduce the population of each nation
But like inflation
It is harder than it looks
To change Gods creation
They need better cooks
Cooks to take a recipe
To create a dish
Or a lawful precipe
To answer their wish
First it was abortion
Which worked marvelously
Killing a significant proportion
And it worked impersonally
But man is pigheaded
Creating more of their own kind
Previous birthrates shredded
Global population had not declined
A new way had to be found
To change this state of affairs
A sure way which is sound
No matter the suffering and tears
The population had to dwindle
Before it was too late
A great global swindle
So the problem will abate
A virus or fungus pandemic
Blaming global warming
A colossal epidemic
Their conspiracies were forming
Create a new infectious bug
To contaminate the world
They were so smug
As the contagion unfurled
They ignored science
Our own immune systems
Which did not join their alliance
Reducing the number of victims
But they learned their lesson
And they will be back
With much more aggression
To get their devious plans on track

Is there an overpopulation problem in the world, or is it a myth?
Whether there is an overpopulation problem in the world has long been a source of contention. On one side of the argument, those who believe that the world is facing an imminent population crisis point to statistics that show a growing population and increasing difficulties in providing food, water, and other resources to meet the needs of this ever-growing population. You remember Thomas Malthus, An Essay on the Principle of Population, and Paul Ehrlich, The Population Bomb.
Conversely, those who believe overpopulation is a myth point to technological advancements that have enabled us to produce more food, provide better access to clean water, and create more efficient methods of utilizing resources. Or we will move to outer space, a new frontier to habitat other planets.
The truth will likely be in the middle, as with many contentious issues. The world population is growing, but technological advancements have allowed us to accommodate this growth in specific ways. We must, however, be mindful of the potential negative impacts of overpopulation, such as a decrease in the availability of resources, an increase in pollution, and an increase in the spread of diseases. We must also consider our capabilities and limitations when it comes to managing population growth and the potential consequences of our actions.
If I were a conspiracy theorist or a fiction novel writer, I would consider the population problem a formula:
Zero Population Growth = New Borns less Natural Deaths, less War and Terrorism Deaths less All other deaths less the x factor.
And what is the x factor? Whatever is dreamed up to reduce the number of living people on the earth. The population is growing, with people living longer and babies surviving childbirth. The world population rises by approximately 150 million per year.
Maybe abortion was the first x factor. Abortion was pushed for the past fifty years globally to shrink the world population by 1.5 billion or 60 million annually. This was not enough.
And suddenly, a mysterious virus spreads throughout the globe killing 7 million. This did nothing to reduce the number of babies, 150 million, born yearly. But I have heard world leaders say there will be more pandemics. They will be caused by global warming or the world getting hotter. The pandemic will be more significant and more widespread, killing many more. It is just the start.
To get to zero population growth, 150 million individuals must die annually before birth through abortion, war, or disease.
My heart hurts
Was it love
Or too many desserts
Or God from above
Does it matter
Why I cannot take a breath
My heart goes pitter patter
Along the path to my death
How did I get here
After exercising too much
Did I cause too much wear
Or is this a crutch
Did I eat the wrong food
Mostly salads and meat
Pizza when in the mood
Along with something sweet
Ice cream and cake
Cookie dough with glaze
Maybe a shake
I did graze
Food or exercise
The doctors do not know
I wonder if they are wise
Or trying to collect dough
Test after test
What do they show
Nothing in my chest
Maye my heart flow
More tests and protocols
To see if my veins are clear
Just wait for our calls
And keep a good cheer
Sometimes it is hard
To be enthusiastic
When you cannot walk the yard
Or anything too drastic
I cannot breathe when I piss
I cannot breathe climbing up the stairs
I cannot breathe to walk the block
I cannot breathe playing in the pool
These are not drastic actions
And it is very tough
No to have reactions
When I cannot get a puff of air
I walked 10000 steps daily
I lifted weights daily
I used the elliptical for 30 minutes daily
I performed yoga every two days
What happened to me
Will it go away
Can they fix this stuff
Or keep it at bay
I do wonder
Can it be fixed
Or do I go under
My thoughts are mixed
Issues upon issues
Troubles upon troubles
Stress upon stress
Anxiety upon anxiety
Thinking can be worse
Worrying for naught
Or is this a curse
And I got caught
Or is it a side effect
Of a Covid shot
Is there a connect
Throwing it all in the pot
Heart inflammation
They do say
Maybe a causation
To take me astray
My shot in late March
My condition sometime in April
Is there a connecting arch
Or is this gossip or a fable
Where has the fun gone this year? No football, no concerts, no shopping, and no movies. We sit at home, and we see a different life—a life of sitting on the computer arguing politics or religion, binge-watching television programs, eating more and more food. We get out for errands, but we do not get out to enjoy life.
I miss visiting town centers where you can hear music or wander into coffee shops, bookstores, thrift stores, or antique stores. I am scared to venture out into crowds or unknown places or crowds of any size. I am not afraid for me, but for my loved ones who have underlying conditions where they might not survive the COVID-19 virus. I do not want to be the one who drags the virus back to them because I am selfish.
I know there are things that I can do when I go out not to bring the virus back to my loved ones, and here are a few suggestions.
Wear a mask. Yes and No? Does wearing a mask help? There is so much debate. I wear my mask everywhere I go including when I exercise. If you are going to exercise, then wearing a mask makes it harder to breathe, but it is making your body work harder. The point of the exercise is to work your body harder. Why not wear a mask and work your body harder?
I stay away from crowds, especially people I do not know. I am not talking about social distancing but much more. I shy away from groups of people. I do not get around crowds either walking around them or high tailing it through them as quickly as possible. I am not friendly, not trying to meet new people or create new friendships. I do not want prolonged conversations with people I do not know. I do not know how they act concerning protecting themselves from the virus. I do not want to take the risk.
I stay away from friends and family members who do not protect themselves from the virus. They do not wear their masks; they go shopping and out to dinner, and they do not have loved ones who might be susceptible to COVID-19. I avoid these people because they are taking too many risks.
I have ventured to the beach, and I have done these three things, and it has reduced my risk and my anxiety. I do not want to be the guy who infected his family with the COVID-19 virus. Doing these three things has not increased my fun this year, but it has protected my loved ones and me.
I wonder what to do this fall with no concerts or football games? What are you doing to have fun this fall?
