Oligarchy A Republic A Democracy An Oligarchy An Aristocracy What are we Who runs us Are we free What is the fuss I can tell you A government ran by a few We should be bitter and blue But who understood and knew We live our lives Enjoying it all And our kids and wives As long as we play ball Everything is fine Until you ask real questions And lights will shine On the underlying tensions Small groups control Our economy and government Remember the grassy knoll And all the other uppercuts These groups are self seeking And they are underhanded Lying when they are speaking Stealing all they have demanded This is the rule of the elite The rule of the nobility The rule of cronyism And the rule of nepotism A leadership class rules Stealing everything Thinking we are fools Accepting their sting Sting of war Sting of economic disaster Sting of epidemic Sting of climate crisis The same people rule our country And is it better or worse Neither are we hungry Nor are resources scarce But for many they are both There are riots in the streets Crime and murder that we loath Brough to you by the cheats Mark my words It is too late They will reduce us by thirds And that is our fate

Words or Change
Words or Change A poor writer Making pennies A nail biter No reflection of my abilities Easy to pick up coins To buy a cup of coffee Crouching through my groins A simple activity Between two fingers Pinching the coinage Showing my butt to admirers Just wanting a beverage But writing is hard Taking much energy Pick and discard Much synergy Creating rhyme Or paragraphs To make a dime And a few laughs It is the same pay Picking up coins or writing I am not eating from the buffet PB and crackers is exciting The life I have chosen To entertain and savor No riches or acclamation But one I favor

Madrid
Madrid I wandered Madrid Enjoying the sights Believing I am El Cid A beloved Spanish knight Fighting not for blood But time A tourist stud Searching and seeking in rhyme So much to see For two days of travel And I was free At my pace to unravel All of the great destinations Sitting in courtyards and plazas Sipping coffee on vacation Recalling all Spains mighty causes Fighting Muslims invaders Discovering the new world Subduing the English pirates and raiders Surviving Fascism as it whirled Spain had endured From good times to bad Unsecured to secured Moving past the dictatorship fad Reminding me of Don Quixote escapades One of my favorite operas and books He is fighting villains on his crusade There is more going on than it looks He is fighting a noble fight To stay pure and true A beacon of light And a strong bond or glue To the noblest of ideals For all of the needy and depressed You must hear his appeals To be brave and pass the test True to goodness True to the humanity True to the truth True to God Anything is possible If you give it your best Possible and best is compossible With a holy quest A holy quest for what is right Maybe not popular Pushing back the blight As a holy swashbuckler My mind ran through these thoughts As I sat at Don Quixotes statue And I was happy to bear the cross And I remembered and knew It should all be for God The number one thing And it is hard not to be a fraud But you must cling to the King No matter what Or under any circumstance You know it in your gut Take a holy stance For your friends and neighbors For the born and unborn God will reward your labors And you will be reborn
Atrocities
Mankind is inhuman and cruel We do not listen and obey The earth is a precious jewel And we have thrown it away Murders abound Since the time of Cain and Abel Just look around And watch your cable Every single day Someone is slain People do as they may Causing so much pain Watch the same news And war is widespread Always a lit burning fuse So many massacred and dead Add in disease And more are extinguished Buckling us to our knees No one is distinguished Disease will find you Where ever you may be Covid or the flu You can not hide or flee At least your alive Living a life of plenty Just look at the archive Many lives are not worth a penny Some are malnourished Some are exploited Some are enslaved Some are aborted They are existing For a period of time Most are not resisting It is not a crime Abortion is legal To kill a child But not an eagle Abortion needs to be reviled How about the famished Throughout the globe Their needs have vanished As we launch space probes Spending billions To go into space Wasting trillions For a space race Race to where Race to make the cut Race to be fair Race to what What is a human life worth How much do we spend To save all humans on earth Will this neglect ever end Why do we not realize This is not what God intended Can you not hear the cries Are you not offended
